Carrs have nurtured a wide and loyal customer base of tool makers and users over the last 20 years. When we invested in advanced laser welding equipment in the '90s a significant corner was turned; the ability to add a like-for-like metal to a surface with minimal disruption or distortion was transformational in the field. Through this step change in welding technology the following benefits derive:

  • Extended service life of expensive components
  • Reduced need for machine replacement
  • Longer lasting spares
  • Additional positive environmental contributions

Effective repairs - Laser welding can recover most metal parts which would otherwise go to scrap. Tools can now be brought back into service without witness of repair, or weakness. See how laser technology overcomes conventional welding problems on our Tool Repair page and consult us before replacing expensive tooling.

Energy saving - Carrs are involved in numerous energy saving projects and heat exchanger production through which otherwise waste energy is conserved. Please visit our Energy page for further information.

Fuel saving - We fabricate fuel return valves which recycle exhaust gases into the air inlet of diesel engines. This is proven technology that reduces un-burnt fuel and helps preheat incoming gases for better overall fuel efficiency. Laser welding is preferred over projection or TIG welding for ultimate reliability and longer life.

Materials - Laser welding technology permits the use of thinner gauge material without distortion, thus saving considerably in valuable materials usage.

Lower machining costs and waste - Precision welding enables lower weld build-up and consequently less machining cost and waste.

Energy use - Considerably less energy is consumed in the laser welding process than through conventional means, conserving precious resource.
